This 12 month Bible in a year reading plan printable is designed to help you with your goal of going through the Bible in one 365 days.
Reading the Bible in 12 months doesn’t mean you have to start in January. You could start in the middle of the year and carry on for 12 months.
For me, when I have a goal for the new year, I start implementing that plan in October or November of the previous year.
That way, when the new year hits, I have already developed a rhythm for executing my goal. The New Year finds me already in action.
You can do the same thing with a one year Bible reading plan. Start your January reading in November this year or whenever and just keep it rolling till next November.
But if you happen to be reading this in July then don’t let me stop you. Start your reading today or tomorrow and continue till next summer
How to read the Bible in 12 months
To read the Bible in 365 days is a great goal. It can be an intimidating one as well.
But I ask you a question: How do you eat an elephant?
The answer?
One bite at a time.
And that’s how you read the Bible in a year.
Fitting proverb since the Bible is considered the bread of life. Right?
But seriously though, reading the Bible in 12 months starts with chewing a little piece of it every day for 365 days.
That’s why these reading plans break down the reading into months and the months into days.
You can also use a 52 week Bible reading plan that breaks down the daily readings across the 7 days of the week.
The Best way to read the Bible in a year
Here are some other tips for reaching your goal of reading the Bible in 12 months.
Don’t do it for the sake of reaching a goal.
It will become tiring and burdensome. Do it if you genuinely want to really meet God in an intimate way.
Truth is, God doesn’t care if you read your Bible but He cares that you know Him. If you approach the Scriptures as a burden you are sure to miss God’s voice and His character that He so badly wants to show you.
Set up a routine that makes it easy to read your Bible.
For example, if you want to read first thing in the morning, keep your Bible on the table beside your bed and have an available reading light too.
If you have to get up to get your Bible from some other room, that will make it hard.
Or download your favorite Bible app and keep it cued to where you want to start reading.
Read your Bible each day
The most important thing is to set time apart everyday to read. If you fall behind, that’s fine. Just spread those chapters across other days so you can get caught up.
Instead of reading from Genesis to Revelation, read a mixture of the genres
I don’t suggest jumping from book to book each day.
The problem with that is if you are reading through a historical book, you want to be able to follow the storyline for some time before switching.
I suggest, for example, that you read through the Gospels, then read the Pentateuch (Genesis to Deuteronomy), then read the poetry books like Proverbs and Psalms, then a few of the letters like Ephesians and Corinthians…..so on. You get the idea.
The point is, you want to mix it up. And that’s why you need these printable Bible reading plans so you can keep track of your reading.
You can also mix up the versions you read from
For example, for hard books like Romans and Hebrews, you can use an interpretive version like The Message to make it easier to get some understanding. But for the story books you can use the NIV or the ESV.
You can also mix up the medium of engagement
Let’s be honest. Reading the Bible can get boring.
But there is another way you can ‘read’ the Scriptures.
You can actually listen to it instead of reading. I really enjoy the dramatized NIV.
Find an audio version that works for you and use it. There are many on YouTube that you can sample.
Get creative with reaching your goal.
Do it with someone
Accomplishing any goal is better when you have company. Ask a friend if they would like to join you on this journey.
You can read alternate chapters. My husband and I do this. It’s a lot of fun!

12 month Chronological Bible reading plan
This Bible reading plan is becoming more popular.
You may know that Bible scholars say the books of the Bible are not arranged in the order that reflects when the events happened in history.
This one year plan covers Genesis to Revelation but it attempts to line-up the chapters of the Bible according to the proper historical timeline.
So, you will find that it’s different from the classical or traditional Bible reading plan.
